i’m about to embark on an experiment with linux. my plan is to setup my home computer to run ubuntu with the beryl windowing system, and then run windows xp at the same time within a vmware virtual machine. if it works, i’ll migrate my handful of windows-only applications to a separate machine in a closet somewhere and access it as needed via remote desktop.

in case you don’t know what all the fuss is about with beryl, check out this and all the other videos on youtube of people’s beryl-enabled desktops. it makes the windows vista eye candy look like a lump of coal.
